Global Screen Adds New 3D Animation to Marché du Film Line-up: BAYALA

Munich, April 27, 2016 | Global Screen has picked up world-wide distribution rights to English-language animation feature BAYALA, the new 3D Family Entertainment project coming from the producers of worldwide successes “Niko & The Way To The Stars” and “Ooops! Noah is Gone…”

Set in a magical world of fantasy, populated by charming elves, unicorns and mythical creatures, the story revolves around the elf princesses Sera and Surah. As the wise dragons have almost disappeared from the kingdom of Bayala, the magic powers of the elves are weakening, a quarrel has driven off the shadow elves. Surah is thrilled when she discovers she has the key to save their world in her hands: a dragon egg! Now the sisters must reach the dragon hills, as they set out on an adventurous journey into the unknown…

bayala® is a high-end line of fantasy figurines, internationally well-known and produced by German toy manufacturer Schleich. The release of the movie will be accompanied by the world-wide roll-out of a special movie edition of the bayala® figurines.
“We are happy to continue our successful cooperation with Ulysses Films,” states Julia Weber, Head of Theatrical Sales at Global Screen. “International audiences will love the magical tale full of charming elves, unicorns and dragons, based on the famous Schleich figures. Our distributors can rely on a strong brand and build truly competitive marketing campaigns”, she adds.

Producer Emely Christians says, “We are thrilled about our first collaboration with Schleich. The kingdom of Bayala is a treasure chest brimming with magic and it has inspired us to writing a unique, character driven screenplay.  It is an exciting new project in our slate and will link smoothly to our previous successes with ‘Ooops’ and ‘Niko’. It is a pleasure to carry on the excellent distribution partnership with Global Screen.”

BAYALA is produced by Ulysses Films, Hamburg, in co-production with Fabrique d’Images, Luxemburg. Studio Rakete in Hamburg (“Ooops! Noah is Gone…” and “Niko & The Way to the Stars”) will be responsible for the design and animation, based on the script by Austrian children's author and screenwriter Vanessa Walder.

Currently in pre-production, the film is planned for delivery in late 2018/early 2019. Global Screen will start preselling the film at upcoming Marché du Film.
