Global Screen, a TELEPOOL brand, has acquired worldwide distribution rights for upcoming English-language feature film My Sailor, My Love, by acclaimed Finnish director Klaus Härö ("The Fencer", "One Last Deal", "Elina") produced by Making Movies and Samson Films.

Starring award-winning actor James Cosmo ("Braveheart", "Game of Thrones"), Catherine Walker ("House of Gucci", "A Dark Song") and Brid Brennan ("Dancing at Lughnasa", "Brooklyn"), My Sailor, My Love is written by scriptwriters Jimmy Karlsson and Kirsi Wikman, who both worked with award-winning director Härö on Äideistä parhain ("Mother of Mine").  Härö is one of the most successful Finnish filmmakers who has been previously nominated for a Golden Globe and shortlisted for an Academy Award for his film "The Fencer".

In My Sailor, My Love, a retired sea captain falls in love with his home aid. His middle-aged daughter does not approve the relationship. She feels like she’s losing a father she never had and starts to sabotage the relationship of the old loving couple.

Produced by Kai Nordberg and Kaarle Aho for Making Movies Oy (Finland), and David Collins for Samson Films (Ireland), the film My Sailor, My Love has had support from the WRAP Fund West-Ireland, the Finnish Film Foundation and Fís Éireann Screen Ireland. The executive producers are Cloé Garbay and Bastien Sirodot for Umedia (Belgium).

Klaus Rasmussen, SVP International Theatrical Sales & Acquisitions at Global Screen comments, “We are thrilled to be handling Klaus Häro‘s first international English speaking feature. Set on the beautiful coast of Ireland and with an engrossing and moving narrative centered on growing old, later love and complex family relationships, My Sailor, My Love is sure to have a deep resonance and appeal to audiences around the world.“

Kai Nordberg, the producer of the main production company Making Movies (Finland) comments, “My Sailor, My Love is a great classical drama. In today’s world many of us live long lives and the desire to find someone to love stays with us. The film is a beautiful love story between elderly people. It is also a very good example of the European co-production model which enables the creation of great content.”
