The Last Summer of Europe (3/10)

On  June 28, 1914 the Austrian crown prince, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, is assassinated in Sarajevo. "The Last Summer of Europe" depicts the dramatic five weeks leading up to the outbreak of the First World War. A Byzantine power ploy unfolds in the corridors of power in Berlin and Vienna, with Austro-Hungary finally joining the German Reich in declaring war on Serbia. Since Serbia is allied with Russia, and Russia with France and Britain (the Triple Entente), a chain reaction follows, leading to the worst cataclysm mankind has ever seen.
