Summer in Berlin

A hot summer in Berlin: Nike and Katrin live in the same old tenement building in East Berlin. Nike wears her heart on her sleeve and always has a quick repartee at the ready - also in her job as a carer for elderly people. Katrin is divorced, has been looking for a job for years and takes care of her adolescent son. The girlfriends spend the warm summer nights on Nike's balcony - they drink, laugh, gossip and are there for one another. Until the trucker Ronald bursts in on their life...  


Ein heißer Sommer in Berlin: Nike und Katrin wohnen im gleichen Haus, Nike oben, Katrin unten. Abends, wenn sie miteinander Rotwein trinken ist Nikes Balkon ein schöner und sicherer Ort über einem unsicheren Leben: Katrin braucht einen Mann, der auch zu ihrem Sohn Max passt. Nike braucht nur einen, der zu ihr passt. Als Katrin fast von einem Lastwagen überfahren wird, lernen sie und Nike so den Truckfahrer Ronald kennen, der Eindruck auf beide macht. Eines Tages nimmt Ronald schließlich Platz auf Nikes Balkon und wirft einen mächtigen Schatten auf die Beziehung der Frauen. Und in unsicheren Verhältnissen ist nun nicht einmal mehr der Balkon ein sicherer Ort.
