Doppelganger

Real estate developer Wolter von Auenstedt is unhappy in his marriage to domineering Hedwig, who wants to raze a whole neighborhood to build luxury apartments. When one day he picks up his wife to take her to a press conference, he realizes too late he's got the wrong woman: scrappy local artisan Emma Stöckel...

Emma Stöckel is the unflappable owner of a glassmaker's shop. She notices an elegantly dressed woman who's moved in across they way, who looks a lot like her - other than their different styles of clothes - and goes to read the sign on the door. As she does, a strange man pulls up and whisks her away to a press conference, where she's to make some sort of announcement. Only now does she realize: The man is real estate developer Wolter von Auenstedt, who's mistaken her for his wife Hedwig, and wants her to announce their plans to raze the neighborhood and build luxury apartments. Faced with a crowd of angry protestors, Emma seizes the opportunity and instead calls off the whole project publicly, to the applause of the local residents. While the real Hedwig is furious at the impostor and threatens to sue, lonely husband Wolter is quite taken with this courageous small businesswoman, who's the polar opposite of his domineering wife in all respects. But Hedwig isn't about to let her husband go without a fight?
