Birth of an Empire (1/10)

The was no such country as "Germany" until well into the 19th Century. Instead, Prussia and Austria were jockeying for power within the German League, a loose confederation of kingdoms and principalities. When Otto von Bismarck becomes Prussian Minister President in the Fall of 1862, it is the first step on a path that will unify Germany into an Empire, the economic powerhouse of continental Europe.
