Buried Truth - Season 4

Rosa has gone back home. To Oberwies, which she thought she'd left behind for good, not once but twice before. Six months previously, Rosa's father Paul had started chemotherapy. To help out, Rosa moved back to live with Paul on the Wilder Farm and also took over command at the local police station. She was hoping for a little peace and quiet here and, after a while, Rosa secretly started to feel that perhaps she had found a kind of home here...

Then one day Rosa's colleague, village police officer Urs Betschart – "Betsch" for short– is found dead in the forest. What initially looks like a car accident quickly reveals itself to be murder. Betsch was beaten to death! Rosa is appalled. Her investigations start right in the office: on the night of the murder, someone threw the sawn-off and bloody head of a wild boar through the window of the police station, directly in front of Betsch's desk! A threat? The pig's head is not the only surprise in store for Rosa. Reinforcements arrive from the city – and it is none other than Kägi. But Rosa has her doubts: is Betsch's death the real reason for Kägi's new interest in Oberwies?

In point of fact, Kägi is meeting with an informant behind Rosa's back – a construction worker by the name of Franz Ramser. He had contacted the Federal Police with the suspicion that the entire construction industry in the region is corrupt! For years, massive price fixing has been ongoing in building projects; a fraud worth millions specifically organized by Räber AG! Rosa has no idea that Kägi suspects that there is more to Betsch's death than just a quarrel in the village but is instead on the trail of an entire construction cartel. A cartel being run by the father of her son, Tim?!

The murder of Betsch and the investigations of our detectives come as a shock to the otherwise comfortable lives of the people of Oberwies. Almost everyone here has something to hide, and one of these long-held secrets is darker than the others...

Developer Thomas Gmür becomes a person of interest to the police. On the evening of Betsch's murder, he had a very loud argument with the police officer. Since the death of his business partner three years previously, Gmür has become an alcoholic, he is facing the ruin of his company and is increasingly losing touch with his family. Now with Rosa and Kägi also starting to stalk him – he seems finally ready to do whatever it takes to turn his life around...

Dani and Robert Räber are also wary of Kägi's investigations. But that's not their only problem: they are being blackmailed by an unknown person, who is threatening to go to the press with sensitive documents. Documents that confirm that the Räbers are involved in a mafia-style construction cartel!

Meanwhile at home, there are more revelations: Rosa learns that Paul's cancer diagnosis is worsening again. The doctors are advising another round of chemotherapy – but Paul doesn't want any more. He would prefer to live his life to the end with dignity. Rosa sees red: the very reason for her coming back to Oberwies was to support her father – and now he wants to give up the fight altogether?!

Rosa is fighting on all fronts. She suffers the worst hours of her life when her son Tim finds himself in danger due to the case. Until finally, someone knocks on the door of the Wilder farmhouse to point.

New prime time series akin to local screwball mysteries like “Lillehammer” and “Fangar”, combining off-beat locations and gripping psychological profiles.
