At Marie’s urging, Alfons Zischl is undergoing chemotherapy while his buddy Sepp Goldhammer is desperately trying to save his very existence by palming off the armament company’s defective weapons to a Ukrainian separatist group. Yet this apparent avenue of escape must pass through a middleman in the Vatican due to restrictive arms export laws. This brings Zischl and his wife Marie to Rome, where he experiences a strange déjà vu during an audience with the Pope. Meanwhile, Goldhammer’s son, Moritz, has returned and tries to forge a completely new career path as a recruit by the German Army. Yet Moritz isn’t the only one with dark secrets in his barracks…
